Here's an interesting article about robes instead of warm-ups. http://intermatwrestle.com/articles/16330
One of the comments posters mentions Irondequoit's Art Connorton, who revived the robes in the 1970's.

Here's a good pic of Earl Fuller, the long-time RIT wrestling coach, working during his annual wrestling clinic. http://library.rit.edu/Images/ritphotos/hires/00486.html
I'm pretty-sure that's from the mid-late 1960's, as I still have that same shirt in my closet from when I attended the clinic as a SHS Ranger. I won't inform you how-many lbs. less I was then, but it was much-less than I am now!
Art Connorton was one of the guest coaches, and I recall his description of his "pocket-ride" technique, which involved moving your 'wad of cash' to a different pocket via one or another wrestling move, to protect your hard-earned dollars. It was his technique to get the kids to recall what to do, and when to do it.
