Is that a joke , the youth states are still up for bid. Maybe one of the local tournaments will make there tournament a qualifier. But if not your kid does not have to qualify to wrestle . When they announce the tournament just send in your money and sons stats . They will seed him according to points. good luck.

From my past two experiences with the NYS Youth championships it is painfully clear that New York is light years behind some other states. We want to tell everyone how good New York wrestling is, and do not get me wrong I think we have excellent wrestling here. However, this youth championship thing is really in need of an overhaul. We had the debacle two years ago at Sullivan Community College (Snow played a part) and last year we were jammed into a phone booth at Union Endicott. Until we really get organized and people all are on the same “team” we will continue to throw things together at the last minute and have a half-xxxx tournament. It pains me to say it but PA has an awesome set-up for their youth championships. New York is already separated into sections so we should be able to have sectional qualifiers. You know what that might be too much to fast. If anything let’s start by getting a date and a venue well in advance so that everyone knows when it is and can plan accordingly. Let’s face it; we all know when the TOC, Gene Mills, Cliff Keen, and other top tournaments are in advance. We really have some great minds in the state that love NYS wrestling and promote the heck out of it. Getting them on board is paramount if we are to get this thing rolling. With that said, I do not mean every swinging johnson that lives East and South East of Syracuse. Section 5 and 6 are pretty darn good so if we need to rotate the venues and appeal to the whole state lets do it. Look at PA they are in Erie, Philly, and Harrisburg. They make a conscious effort to move it all around the state. New Yorkers are funny they are very territorial. I find it hard to believe that the down state sections especially the Island would want to come to Niagara Falls or Rochester. On the other hand, not many people from the Falls are going to take a roadie to Long Island. We need serious people from across the whole state to help make this happen. Let’s get it done!!!

I agree with everything you said hudson my son wrestles section 1 modified and we also wrestle every weekend in ct for usa seeing as usa wrestling in ny is like a thing of the past for youth ct has it going great they have a website for every tournament in the state and then qualifiers in every section of the state to accommodate everyone and then states it is a real shame that ny is the way it is hopefully we will get things on track and help the up and coming wrestlers and future state champs of ny!
